5 point someone : Chetan Bhagat

THE RECENT BOOK I READ WAS 5 POINT SOMEONE :

Synopsis

Five Point Someone is a story about three friends in IIT who are unable to cope.
The book starts with a disclaimer, “This is not a book to teach you how to get into IIT or even how to live in college. In fact, it describes how screwed up things can get if you don’t think straight.”
Three hostelmates – Alok, Hari and Ryan get off to a bad start in IIT – they screw up the first class quiz. And while they try to make amends, things only get worse. It takes them a while to realize: If you try and screw with the IIT system, it comes back to double screw you. Before they know it, they are at the lowest echelons of IIT society. They have a five-point-something GPA out of ten, ranking near the end of their class. This GPA is a tattoo that will remain with them, and come in the way of anything else that matters – their friendship, their future, their love life. While the world expects IITians to conquer the world, these guys are struggling to survive.
Will they make it? Do under performers have a right to live? Can they show that they are not just a five-point-somebody but a five-point-someone?

MY PET DOG

I have a pet dog. I named it Doggie. Doggie is a white coloured shepherd dog. it is very lovely and It always licks my cheek. Doggie had been trained before ehile it is in the pet dog. So, it knows how to go back home, sit, stand and stay.

Doggie is special to me because it is just like my best friend. everytime when I come back from school, it will run out quickly to welcome me. it will jump onto my arm and lick my cheek. when I am free, I will play with Doggie in the garden. it will lie down on my feet, roll over and squirm around me until I give it a stomach rub. I am happy to have a friend who is never busy and can always play with me when I am lonely.

Besides, Doggie is just like my family safety guard. it will always help us to take care of our house. I remember that once there was a thief who tried to steal something valuable from my house. On that night, all of us were asleep. None of us noticed that the thief had broken into out house.

Luckily, we have Doggie. Doggie barked at the thief fiercely when it noticed the thief. It helped us to chase away the thief. All of us were as happy as a lark because nothing had been stolen by the thief.

I am very happy to have a pet dog like Doggie. I believe that caring for animals is important. So, I promised that I will take good care of Doggie forever.

Diwali, popularly called Deepavali in some parts of India, is a festival which we all long for every year. The preparations for Deepavali start long before the festival date.

First, the excitement for us would be the new dresses that are bought to be worn for Deepavali. Since Deepavali is a festival for more than 2 days, we have 2 or 3 new dresses. Apart from this all elders visiting us buy us sweets and dresses also. Jeans, T shirts, Trousers and shirts were all bought for me by my parents.

The other major excitement for Deepavali is the bursting of crackers and fireworks. This year we burst lot of crackers. Earlier I used to be afraid of crackers. Now I have got over the fear of bursting crackers. My parents tell me that I have to be very careful while bursting. I followed their advice and there was no fire accident also. Sparklers, Rockets, Ground Chakkars and Flower pots were our favorites besides the Thousand thousand sparks bomb.

The third rejoicing aspect of Deepavali is the eating of sweets. We visit relatives and friends with sweets and snacks. They also visit us with sweets and snacks. We seek their blessings on the festival day. Gulab jamun, Laddoos, Halwas and Kaju cakes were my favorites.

My grandmother tells me that the victory of Good over Evil is the reason for this celebration. She also says that the festival is to mark the return of Rama to Ayodhya after his defeat of Ravana.

Lots of people also start new ventures on this day after performing Lakshmi Puja. This is marked by lighting of lamps, candles and diyas by the women folk in the family. The light and colour add to the celebrations.

In all, I can say that Deepavali is the brightest festival to be celebrated in India. The delicious food associated with the feast makes us feel that this festival must come more often in a year.

The LEADER I envy !

There have been many leaders who have led differently this world. Some worked for social reforms, while many worked for social awareness. Several of them worked for the upliftment of society.
There have been many leaders who have led differently this world. Some worked for social reforms, while many worked for social awareness. Several of them worked for the upliftment of society. They all have impressed society in their own way. But of them all, I like Mahatma Gandhi most. He is my favorite leader.
Mahatma Gandhi was a great man. He was born on 2nd October 1869 at Kathiwar in Gujarat, in a middle class family. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. His father Karamchand Gandhi was the Diwan of Rajkot. His mother Putli Bai was a religious lady.
Mahatma Gandhi had his early education at Porbander. Later he went to England for higher studies. He was an average student in his early childhood. In his childhood Mahatma Gandhi was very shy and honest. He passed his Entrance Examination at the age of 17. In England he studied Law and became a barrister. When he returned to India, he started his practice at the Bombay High Court. But he was not interested in his legal profession. He abandoned his blooming career and jumped into the freedom movement of India.
Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to South Africa proved an important event in his life. In fact, it turned his life. In South Africa he was moved to see the plight of the non-white at the hands of the whites. He himself had to suffer humiliation due to his being a non-white. He fought for the rights of the Indians living there. He was a very simple man. His sympathy and love for the underprivileged inspired him to fight for them.
In 1913, Mahatma Gandhi came back to India. He joined politics. He could not tolerate the plight of the masses by the foreign ruler. He fought for them. He undertook pains and sufferings for them. He was put to jail several times. His whole life is a saga of sufferings and sacrifice. Mahatma Gandhi started his political career in India from Champaran Satyagraha. He went to Bihar and fought against the injustices done on the farmers. He started non-cooperation movement in 1922. The tools with which he fought against the Britishers were truth and non-violence.
Mahatma Gandhi worked hard to eradicate the social evils from Indian society. He advocated Hindu-Muslim unity and condemned the untouchability, casteism, communalism, etc. He loved the downtrodden and called those Harijans. He promoted women education and criticised child marriage, purdah system, etc. Under his leadership India got independence on 15 August 1947. Unfortunately this noble soul, apostle of peace and love was shot dead by a frantic Nathu Ram Godse on 30 January 1948.

IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

There goes a good proverb—”All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy“.
Games and sports are not only important for success in studio but it is important for success in every walks of our life. Games and sports include all outdoor and indoor games and also athletics. In ancient Greece they formed the principal part of education. In the advanced countries of the present day also they are a regular feature of the school and college curriculum.
Games and sports may be of various kinds. Apart from school or college sportsboys and girls may practice races, jumps, discuss throw and javelin throw and thus pass their afternoon in useful activities. They may play various games like football, cricket, hockey, volleyball, basket ball, badminton etc. School and College Games and sports are annual affairs. Sports are generally held in winter months. Students take part in various games like high and long jumps, pole vault, go-as-you like and different kind of races. These annual sports foster competitive spirit and sportsmanship. Sometimes inter class tournaments are held in relation with football, hockey, cricket, tennis, cycling, volleyball, badminton etc. These games foster team spirit among the participants and make them disciplined.
The importance of games and sports can never be minimized.
  • First of all, they are good exercises and help to build fine, physique for the boys and girls. They make them mentally alert and physically strong.
  • Secondly, students learn to cope with difficult situations. By displaying their feats before many spectators, they can overcome their nervousness.
  • Thirdly, games and sports are good diversions and give them energy to learn their lessons well.
For these reasons, every civilized nation values the importance of games and sports and spends large sum of money on improving the standard of games and sports among its players and athletes. The standard of games and sports in India is far from satisfactory. So, the Government should take steps to improve this standard.
